Arthroscopy of the hip is still relatively uncommon. The Cedars-Sinai Orthopedic Center has both the experienced surgeons and special equipment needed to do this difficult surgery.
Your doctor can insert the tiny camera of the arthroscope into your hip joint, take a close look at the joint and treat any problems that may be found. This is a less invasive way of finding the cause of your hip pain than traditional surgery.
If neither an arthrogram nor magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) confirmed the source of your hip pain, arthroscopy maybe useful in diagnosing the cause of the pain. In addition, an orthopedic surgeon can sew a torn labrum back together or remove pieces of the labrum that cannot be repaired -- all using an arthroscope.
Use of arthroscopy allows you to recover faster and with fewer complications.
