Osteotomy is a surgical procedure to cut away part of a bone to realign a joint, reduce pain and increase freedom of movement.
The procedure may be used to treat arthritis, however, it is generally best suited for situations where a relatively small area of bone is affected.
The procedure relieves pain and preserves your own joint. It does, however, require a long time for rehabilitation. The underlying condition (such as arthritis) is not cured by the procedure; the problem can return.
