Gregg K. Nishi, MD

Surgeon, Center for Weight Loss

Gregg K. Nishi, MD is a surgeon for the Center for Weight Loss, the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Trauma Surgery Services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Nishi is also an assistant clinical professor in surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Dr. Nishi's primary clinical and research interests include laparoscopic weight loss surgery and surgical intensive care. He won the Paul Rubenstein, MD Prize for Excellence in Resident Research Abstract and Awards Presentation, the Society of Laproendoscopic Surgeons Resident Achievement Award and the Leo G. Rigler, MD Award for Academic Achievement from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

An Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Nishi is also a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, American Medical Association and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He has written articles for several peer-reviewed journals, including American Surgeon and Bariatric Times.

Dr. Nishi received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Irvine and his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He completed an internship in the Department of Surgery at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York and completed his surgical training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Department of Surgery.
