MRI CSF Flow

MRI of the brain or spine that evaluates the flow of fluid around the brain, brainstem and/or spinal cord.

Indications

  • Hydrocephalus (increased brain fluid)
  • Cases of flow obstruction, such as:

    • Achondroplasts
    • Aqueductal stenosis
    • Normal pressure hydrocephalus

CSF Flow with Flexion and Extension

Additional images obtained in addition to CSF flow study with the patient's head and neck in different positions.

Ordered to see if CSF flow findings are changed with different positioning.


Indications

Added to cases such as achondroplasia patients where positioning may be a factor.
