MRI Brain with Fiducials

A specialized MRI brain with markers in place for surgical planning.

Markers are placed at the scanner by technologists (they look like little lifesavers). Assists the surgeon in aligning the images to the patient's head.

Fiducials are placed on the forhead, face and behind the ear. They do not interfere with a patient's hair.

MR with fiducials should be ordered as close to the time of surgery as possible, because the patient can not shower or wash their face once they have been placed.

Indications

  • Usually for tumor resection surgery.

Contrast

No contrast is needed.
