The Flow Cytometry and Image Analysis Practicum is an intense one-week course to teach clinical applications of cytometry in patient management. Participants receive instruction in immunophenotyping of leukemia and lymphomas, AIDS monitoring and flow and image cytometric DNA measurement of solid tumors. Daily laboratory and didactic sessions emphasize hands-on performance of all procedures from tissue and cell sampling to data analysis. Throughout the practicum, participants work side-by-side with pathologists and technologists performing clinical analysis and interpretation supplemented by a series of didactic sessions and discussions.
While the course is designed for pathologists, it is also open to medical technologists with advanced experience. The class size is usually limited to three to four participants. CME credit is available.
The Flow Cytometry and Image Analysis Practicum program is temporarily on hold while our laboratory is being renovated. Usually we offer three sessions per year. When the next dates do become available, they will be posted.
