Charles N. Moon, MD

Associate Director, Orthopedic Trauma

Charles N. Moon, MD is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in trauma and reconstruction at Cedars-Sinai Orthopaedic Center and Cedars-Sinai Institute for Joint Replacement. A Fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Moon is also Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopedics for the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC).

Active in clinical research, Dr. Moon's primary areas of research interest involve trauma and trauma reconstruction, specifically relating to the hip, pelvis and long bones. He was presented with the Bessie Kaplan Morais Award for excellence in cancer research from the New York Medical College and the Herman Epstein Award for clinical excellence from USC. He regularly speaks on complex fracture care and teaches in national conferences. Clinical interests include complex fracture care, joint replacement and hip preservation surgery.

Dr. Moon has written articles for such peer-reviewed publications as the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Orthopedics and the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen-Association for the Study of Internal Fixation (AO-ASIF), Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the Western Orthopaedic Association.

Dr. Moon received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley
and his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla. At Los Angeles
County + USC Medical Center, he completed an internship and residency in
orthopedic surgery, as well as fellowships in orthopedic trauma surgery and pelvis
and acetabular surgery.
