Nutrition Counseling Center

The Nutrition Counseling Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center provides comprehensive medical nutrition therapy for patients with a wide range of health conditions. The registered dietitians at the Nutrition Counseling Center conduct individual sessions that are personalized to address each patient's specific needs.

Indications for Referrals

Patients are referred to the Nutrition Counseling Center by their primary care physician, often for follow-up medical nutrition therapy after being discharged from the Medical Center. The Nutrition Counseling Center's patients range from newborns and children to adolescents and adults, including pregnant women and seniors. The center treats patients with a wide variety of diseases and disorders, such as:

  • Cancer
  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • Diabetes
  • Digestive diseases
  • Dysphagia (swallowing difficulties)
  • Eating disorders
  • Gestational diabetes
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Lipid abnormalities
  • Malnutrition
  • Obesity
  • Organ failure
  • Osteoporosis
  • Pediatric failure to thrive
  • A transplanted organ

The experience that they gain as part of a world-class, multidisciplinary team is invaluable in preparing them to meet the nutritional needs of all patients, no matter how complex their medical and nutritional issues may be.

A Team of Specialists

The Nutrition Counseling Center's team of specialists comprises experienced outpatient registered dietitians. The registered dietitians work with the referring physicians to determine the best nutritional program for each patient and keeps the referring physician apprised of the patient's condition. As part of Cedars-Sinai, the center also provides access to inpatient registered dietitians for any complex or specialized assessments or counseling.
