PET Brain Indications

While CT and MRI can take detailed images of the brain, they cannot measure function. PET measures cell metabolism and can vividly illustrate areas where brain activity differs. It has significant implications in diagnosing Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy and other neurological conditions. PET can also discriminate Parkinson's disease from other muscle tremor movement disorders, and help doctors monitor the impact of treatments.

In addition, PET can also help determine if a brain tumor is benign or malignant, when recurrence is suspected, or differentiate between scar tissue and tumor regrowth.

PET brain can aid in the treatment of your patients with the following indications:

  • Alzheimer's disease

  • Fronto-temporal dementia

  • Refractory seizures
