Karen A. Scharre, MD

Pathologist; breast pathology, cytopathology, gynecologic pathology

Karen Scharre, MD leads the breast pathology section in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Cedars-Sinai. Dr. Scharre is also Assistant Clinical Professor of Pathology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, Dr. Scharre holds an added qualification in cytopathology from the American Board of Pathology. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Dr. Scharre has written articles for such peer-reviewed publications as The Journal of Infectious Diseases and Modern Pathology.

Dr. Scharre received her medical degree from the University of California, Davis. She completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Washington School of Medicine and a surgical pathology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
