Sandor G. Vari, MD

Director, International Research and Innovation Management Program

Sandor Vari, MD, is responsible for developing international partnerships between Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and scientists and researchers who have common interests in taking innovations and new technologies from the laboratory to practical applications to improve the health and quality of life of people around the world.

A research scientist in his own right, Dr. Vari has diverse experience in biomedical optics and photonics research and applications. He is also implementing research and technology development projects in telematics for healthcare and developing optical imaging and integrated telematics applications to provide optimal working environment at all levels of health care.

Dr. Vari served as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Semmelweis School of Medicine 1st Department of Surgery, Budapest, from 1985 to 1990. In 1989, he received a Fulbright Scholarship to study biomedical photonics.

His research has been published in more than 50 papers, 16 peer-reviewed jouranl articles, 38 articles in edited journals and proceedings. Work that has been presented by Dr. Vari and his colleagues at scientific meetings all over the world has been highlighted in more than 50 abstracts in conference proceedings.

Dr. Vari received his medical degree from the Semmelweis School of Medicine in Budapest.
