Thomas P. Sokol, MD, FACS, FASCRS

Attending Surgeon, Division of Colorectal Surgery

Thomas Sokol, MD is an attending surgeon in the Division of Colorectal Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Sokol is also an associate clinical professor of surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Dr. Sokol's main clinical and research interests are directed towards optimizing outcomes and techniques in the surgical treatment of anal incontinence, chronic constipation, diverticular disease of the colon and colorectal cancer.

Dr. Sokol has written numerous articles for peer-reviewed publications, including a book chapter on anal fissure in Consultation in Gastroenterology by William Snape, Jr.; "Colorectal Cancer: Comparison of Laparascopic with Open Approaches" in Disease of Colon and Rectum journal and "HIV Status as Influence on Anal Fistula" in Disease of Colon and Rectum journal.

Dr. Sokol received his bachelor's degree in physiology from the University of California at Davis. He completed graduate studies and research in cardiovascular diseases before going on to receive his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences, Chicago Medical School. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center. His fulfilled a colorectal surgery fellowship at the Carle Clinic/University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois. He is a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery.

Board certified, Colorectal Surgery and General Surgery.
