Joya Favreau, MD

Staff Physician

Joya Favreau, MD is the Medical Coordinator of Integrative Medicine Services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Favreau is also a staff physician in General Internal Medicine Services at Cedars-Sinai, and she is Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

A board-certified internist, Dr. Favreau is an expert in medical acupuncture. She has integrated medical acupuncture and nutritional and botanical modalities into the treatments of patients with a wide range of health conditions. Her primary areas of research interest have involved studying the effectiveness of these therapies in diseases and disorders, including cancer, depression and bowel diseases.

Dr. Favreau has written articles for the peer-reviewed publications, including the Annals of Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Academy of Medical Acupuncture Association and the American Medical Women's Association.

Dr. Favreau received her bachelor's degree from the University of California, San Diego and her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed an internship and a categorical residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai, as well as a fellowship in health services research, integrative medicine. Afterwards, she trained in medical acupuncture at UCLA.
