CSMC Receives Full Five-Year Institutional Accreditation from ACGME

Cedars-Sinai has been granted institutional accreditation for a full five years -- the maximum period awarded -- by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), according to Mark Noah, M.D., director of medicine/residency training.

The Institutional Review Committee of the ACGME gave the accreditation to Cedars-Sinai effective October 17. As a result, the next site survey will not take place until Oct. 1, 2012.

The ACGME is the governing body responsible for certifying medical training programs for residents and fellows, as well as the institutions that provide the training programs.

"Congratulations to our Graduate Medical Education leadership and all of the training program directors," said Shlomo Melmed, M.D., senior vice president of Academic Affairs. "This announcement is a really superb reflection of the educational quality of our training programs."
