
Lawrence S. Gross, MD is a psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at Cedars-Sinai. Dr. Gross is also Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine, and he is Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatric Services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Gross' research activities have included investigations of psychopharmacological treatments for schizophrenia, and screening for depression in outpatient medical populations. His professional interests include medical student and resident education and the clinical treatment of psychotic and mood disorders. He was included in "Best Doctors in America" in 2001-2002, 2003-2004 and 2005-2006.
A board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Gross is a member of the American College of Psychiatrists, American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry and Physicians for Social Responsibility. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and an examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has authored or co-authored articles for peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, including The American Psychiatric Press Textbook of Neuropsychiatry, Anxiety and Related Disorders, Comprehensive Textbook of Psychiatry and Synopsis of Neuropsychiatry. He is the 2006-2007 President of the Southern California Psychiatric Society, the district branch of the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Gross received his bachelor's degree from Rice University and his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine. He completed an internship in psychiatry and a residency in behavioral medicine and psychiatry at Charleston Area Medical Center, West Virginia University School of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Gross fulfilled a fellowship in clinical psychopharmacology research at Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center, and he earned a master's degree in medical education from USC.
