Cedars-Sinai's Senior Services endeavors to help older members of the community live a higher quality of life and a greater number of years while enjoying better health. About 20,000 seniors participate each year in screenings, educational and self-help programs, health fairs, immunization clinics and exercise programs.
Senior Services coordinates Senior Shape Up exercise classes, Center Strutters mall walkers and the Stroke Club. We also work with other community agencies to help seniors receive any additional assistance they need.
Many in the elderly populations of the Crenshaw, Fairfax/West Hollywood and Mid-City areas of Los Angeles lack access to medical testing and healthcare for conditions that commonly affect their age group.
The goal of this program is to provide basic prevention, such as vaccinations for influenza, as well as education and screening for diabetes, cardiovascular disease and hypertension, and mental health issues. Because of Cedars-Sinai's partnerships and collaborations with a variety of agencies and organizations within the community, appropriate referrals are made to provide necessary help for these individuals.
The Happy Seniors Health Education Lecture Series is designed to enhance health and well-being.
