To maximize the effectiveness of community benefit, Cedars-Sinai partners with many community-based organizations, health clinics and schools. Collaborations optimize resources, assets and skills to achieve shared goals in meeting the needs of the community. Based on the Community Needs Assessment and the goals set forth for the Community Health Initiatives, Cedars-Sinai has partnered with several local entities to serve populations with identified unmet health needs.
The Los Angeles Free Clinic collaborates with Cedars-Sinai in the "Cradle Project," a pre-natal clinic that serves mostly pregnant teenagers and young women who lack access to other healthcare. The pre-natal clinic is staffed by personnel from the L.A. Free Clinic health team, rotating Ob/Gyn residents from Cedars-Sinai, and an attending physician from the Department of Ob/Gyn at Cedars-Sinai. Many of the women deliver at Cedars-Sinai.
Schools and Parents: To provide children with nutrition and physical activity education, Cedars-Sinai collaborates with schools, principals, teachers and parents. Cedars-Sinai partners with the Los Angeles Unified School District. Support and partnership at all administrative and staff levels with schools are essential for program success.
Cedars-Sinai has partnered extensively with the City of West Hollywood to serve the West Hollywood community. Cedars-Sinai and the City of West Hollywood work together to schedule and plan each year's programs. More than 100 community outreach services have been provided, including free screenings, vaccinations, health fairs, support groups and educational programs. Program venues include the West Hollywood Community Center and HUD founded housing.
Senior Centers: Cedars-Sinai collaborates with several local multipurpose senior centers to provide services to the senior population, including the Hollywood Senior Multipurpose Center and Peoples Coordinated Services Senior Multipurpose Center in Crenshaw. The senior centers and Cedars-Sinai plan and provide programs, such as influenza and pneumococcal education and immunizations, and diabetes lectures and screenings.
