
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is dedicated to having a diverse medical staff and training programs to meet the ethnic and cultural needs of the diverse community that the Medical Center serves. The Cultural Diversity Committee of the medical staff is chartered to: provide culturally diverse lectures and assist the medical staff in attaining cultural competence, encourage more culturally diverse medical students to select Cedars-Sinai as their site for clerkships and residency training and to provide special mentoring of the culturally diverse physician-in-training.

Cedars-Sinai has a long and distinguished tradition of serving the community. Cedars-Sinai commits over $91 million per year for more than 100 specialized and diversified community benefit programs for a diverse community. More than half of these programs are collaborations with community and voluntary agencies or with other health providers.
Many of these programs are on the forefront of the nation's agenda for public health, including programs for homeless and underserved mothers, children's health, youth employment and development, senior services and preventative health services.
Half of these programs include services for those who are indigent, uninsured or underinsured and/or eligible for Medi-Cal, Medicare, state Children's Service Programs and Healthy Families. Seniors and children comprise the greatest proportion of those served.
