The mission of the Cardiac Imaging Research Team (CIRT) is to develop nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI methods that will help reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases. CIRT is a nonprofit, self-funded research organization at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's S. Mark Taper Foundation Imaging Center.
Through research and development of noninvasive imaging techniques, CIRT's goal is early detection and prevention and ultimately, eradication of heart attacks.
Over the past three decades, CIRT has been awarded more than $13 million in research grants resulting in more than 400 manuscripts, chapters and textbooks, which have attracted worldwide attention.

Daniel Berman, MD, CIRT Director, is recognized worldwide for his achievements in the field of cardiac imaging. He has pioneered the development of the field of nuclear cardiology and has taught countless physicians, technologists and scientists how to conduct and interpret nuclear cardiology tests and how to use nuclear cardiology for clinical decisions. He heads the CIRT team of premier research clinicians and scientists and collaborates with the leading cardiac imaging researchers around the world. He is also the Medical Director of Cedars-Sinai's Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIM) Program.
