EISNER Study 2: Patients with Nuclear Cardiology Studies

IRB Number: 3974

IRB Expiration Date: 07/31/2009

Purpose of Study

The primary purpose of this study is to determine if the information from a CT scan of your heart adds value to the information from the nuclear cardiology study in helping your doctor make decisions about your medical care.

Eligibility Requirements

Patients who have no known history of heart disease and are having or have recently had a nuclear cardiology study may be able to participate in this study.

Research Procedures

Participating in the study involves the following procedures:

  • A baseline questionnaire about your medical history, current health status, dietary and lifestyle
  • A cardiac CT scan that measures the amount of coronary calcification or atherosclerotic plaque burden you have in your coronary arteries. A copy of the scan report will be sent to the physician who referred you for the nuclear cardiology study.
  • A fasting blood draw that will be used for cholesterol and glucose testing, as well as future analysis
  • Body measurements such as weight, height and waist
  • Annual follow-up questionnaires from Year 1 until Year 4 of when you enrolled in the study
  • Use of information from your nuclear cardiology study and medical records for the purposes of research
