
Joseph Isaacson, MD, specializes in treating children with arthritis and other orthopedic conditions and has served in leadership roles at Cedars-Sinai and other area hospitals over the course of more than two decades. He has extensive experience in hip replacement, hip revision, knee replacement and knee revision procedures.
His influence at Cedars-Sinai began in 1980 when he was a member of the Quality Assurance Committee. He chaired that committee the following two years before serving on the Executive Committee and Peer Review Committee of the medical center's Orthopedic Division. He was program chairman of the Division from 1986 to 1988.
In addition to other posts he held through the early 1990s, Dr. Isaacson was member of the board of Cedars-Sinai Medical Group from 1985 to 1990, vice president of the Group in 1986 and 1987, and president in 1987 and 1988.
In addition to these responsibilities and others at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Dr. Isaacson has served in state and regional professional capacities. He has been a member of the California Medical Association's Committee on Accreditation for Continuing Medical Education, he was program chairman in 1993 for the Western Orthopedic Association, Southern California Chapter, and was on the Membership Committee of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Region 17, from 1989 to 1993. He is currently a member of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America.
Dr. Isaacson has written several articles on orthopedic injuries and procedures in such peer-reviewed publications as the American Journal of Radiology and Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research. Dr. Isaacson earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California. He completed an internship and residency at University of Michigan Hospitals before serving in the United States Air Force in the mid-1970s.
Certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Isaacson is clinical assistant professor of orthopedics at the University of Southern California.
