Lawrence Maldonado, MD

Director, Medical Intensive Care Unit

Lawrence Maldonado, MD is Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Maldonado also serves as a mentor for the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program at Cedars-Sinai.

A frequent guest lecturer at hospitals throughout Southern California, Dr. Maldonado is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is board certified in internal medicine and critical care medicine and has recognized expertise in bioethics.

Dr. Maldonado has written numerous articles for peer-reviewed publications, including American Journal of Medicine, Journal of Intensive Care Medicine, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Stroke and Thyroid. In addition, he has served as a reviewer for the Journal of Intensive Care Medicine and as editor of Practical Reviews in Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Maldonado received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Davis and his medical degree from UCLA. He completed an internship and a residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai, as well as a fellowship in critical care medicine.
