
Cedars-Sinai's Palliative Care Services provides expert interdisciplinary, caring consultations for patients and families facing life limiting and end-of-life situations. Consultations are provided by Parag Bharadwaj, MD, and Robert Taub, MD, assisted by Linda Gorman, MS, RN and Rita Hand, GNP, MSN.
Palliative Care Services is focused on providing the best quality of life for patients and their families facing life-threatening or advanced illnesses. It is focused on the relief of a full range of symptoms, including physical and psychological to help patients through this difficult time as compassionately as possible. It complements and is available simultaneously with all other appropriate treatments during any stage of illness.
The program provides the attending physician and healthcare professionals an additional resource from which to draw assistance in caring for patients and their families.
Palliative care is available to inpatients only. As a resource, palliative care can augment bedside management of pain and distress of highly symptomatic and complex cases while supporting the treament plan of the attending physician. It can also improve patient and family satisfaction.
