C. Michele Burnison, MD

Radiation Oncologist; Interim Chair, Radiation Oncology

Dr. Michele Burnison is a staff physician at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with offices in the Outpatient Cancer Center at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. Dr. Burnison is the Acting Chair of the Radiation Oncology Department. Her clinical expertise is in cancers of the prostate, breast and gastrointestinal tract, and in leukemia/lymphomas. She is particularly respected for her experience in prostate radiation implants and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT and seed implants), as well as breast radiation therapy.

Dr. Burnison is an associate professor of radiation oncology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Burnison held a clinical faculty position at UCLA for 14 years before joining the Outpatient Cancer Center in 1999. She is board certified by the American Board of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.

Dr. Burnison completed her residency in radiation oncology at the UCLA School of Medicine. Her internship in internal medicine was completed at UCLA/Sepulveda VA Medical Center. Dr. Burnison received her medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine in 1981.
