Psychiatry Residency

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the largest private hospital on the West Coast, provides a fully approved, comprehensive, academically based program in psychiatric medicine. Cedars-Sinai offers residents and fellows exposure to a wide range of procedures and populations.

A faculty interested in general psychiatry, as well as subspecialty care and research, offers a balanced clinical foundation upon which physicians develop their own options for future careers in psychiatry.

The application deadline for the academic year beginning July 1, 2009 is November 15, 2008.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Psychiatry Program is offering highly motivated applicants an individualized psychiatric training experience. We are pleased to present a unique combination of experiences in outpatient, inpatient, consult-liaison, emergency, child and adolescent, addiction and research psychiatry. This experience will expose rotators to a diverse population in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious and economic elements.

We feel that such a customized psychiatric rotation will give those who are interested in the residency program the opportunity to work with the residents and faculty up-close and to get to know the place that they might choose to spend the next four years. It will also give the residents and faculty the chance to get to know applicants more closely. The rotation duration ranges from two to four weeks.

This experience will enhance your professional development and may guide your choice of psychiatric training.

To apply for the rotation, please send:

  • A cover letter highlighting your interests within psychiatry and the preferred length and dates of the rotation
  • An updated CV (Please include the last four digits of your Social Security Number)
  • A brief personal statement (a free-flowing elucidation of the past, present and future with a focus on what separates you from the crowd)
  • Two letters of recommendations (at least one from a psychiatrist)
