Lifeline Emergency Response Program

The Lifeline Emergency Response Program has been a community service provided by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for more than 16 years. Lifeline equipment (Lifeline Systems, Inc.) was selected because of its state-of-the-art equipment and commitment to excellence. It is the largest provider of personal response services in North America and has stayed in touch with subscribers, the marketplace and trends in the industry and in technology. Because of their success, Cedars-Sinai is able to offer the finest and newest in technology to those we serve. Today Cedars-Sinai is the only Medical Center in the Greater Los Angeles area to provide this quality service to the community.

24-Hour Assistance at the Push of a Button

The Lifeline Program provides 24-hour assistance with a push of a button. Its primary focus is helping the elderly, frail, disabled and those individuals who are at risk and living alone to stay in their homes with the reassurance that help is just a push button away. It can also be used for orthopedic, cardiac, and infant/at-risk individuals. With Cedars-Sinai's Lifeline Program, both the family and subscriber can have peace of mind knowing that assistance is available 24 hours a day by a push of a button. The button is lightweight, waterproof and can be worn either around the neck or on the wrist.

Personal response services are becoming an increasingly important addition to the continuum of care. It provides early intervention, peace of mind and reassurance for the family members/caregivers. The Cedars-Sinai service provides an immediate phone connection to assistance, which contributes to independent living rather than remaining in a long care facility.

A Low-Cost Service

The equipment is put into the home for a nominal monthly service charge and a one-time installation fee. The only obligation any individual assumes is for the installation fee and the monthly charge. Service can be discontinued by simply providing a 30-day notice. There are two types of equipment to choose from, the CarePartner Communicator and the CarePartner Telephone (which is a working telephone, as well as a Communicator to accommodate special needs). With either unit you are able to choose a lightweight, waterproof wristband or pendant.

Serving Our Community

Lifeline is passionate about those we serve, and we are committed to providing reassurance, peace of mind and a caring response to those who depend on our service.

The Lifeline Program at Cedars-Sinai serves the Greater Los Angeles area, Los Angeles County and San Fernando Valley. At Cedars-Sinai we are steadfast in focusing on continuous improvement, striving to exceed the needs of our subscribers. We provide the caring connection for those who live alone to help when needed. Presently we serve over 1300 subscribers, and the integrity of our service lies in the quality of our staff and volunteers who make this service available by going into the home to install and instruct the new subscribers on the use of the equipment.
