About Gene Therapeutics Research

Gene therapy offers hope for nearly every field of medicine. In the not-too-distant future, diabetes could be prevented before it occurs. Cancers could be controlled or even cured. Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease could be cured or significantly delayed. A fetus with Tay-Sachs disease could be genetically treated in the womb. The risk of organ transplant rejection could be dramatically reduced. The Gene Therapeutics Research Institute's researchers, in collaboration with clinical researchers, are seeking medical advances in a wide range of clinical disorders, including:

The Board of Governors Gene Therapeutics Research Institute collaborates with other disciplines at Cedars-Sinai so that gene-based research that proves to be effective can be quickly put into medical practice.
