Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine

The Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center provides complete healthcare services for infants, children and adolescents with lung diseases and disorders, including:

Experienced specialists deliver 24-hour, personalized care within sophisticated facilities designed for patient and family comfort. As part of world-renowned Cedars-Sinai's complete pediatric healthcare services, Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine ensures that patients receive the most accurate testing procedures available and superior medical therapies. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is a designated cystic fibrosis center.

Comprehensive Services

Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine employs comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services to precisely identify respiratory conditions and develop the most effective course of treatment for each child. In accordance with Cedars-Sinai's rapid laboratory bench-to-bedside approach to proven medical procedures and treatments, Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine also actively participates in lung research and offers patients access to innovative clinical trials and investigational studies.   • Computerized axial tomography (CAT or CT) scan
  • Flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Oxygen and carbon dioxide monitoring
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Sweat chloride testing
  • Thoracentesis and chest tube placement

The experienced team within Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine works with the referring physician to determine the best course of treatment for each patient and keeps the referring physician apprised of the patient's condition. At the appropriate time, the patient is referred back to the primary care physician for continued management, but the physicians at Cedars-Sinai remain available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide post-treatment support and to serve as an informational resource.
