In the 2009 U.S. News and World Report Best Hospitals issue, Cedars-Sinai once again ranked among America's best in Gastrointestinal Disorders.
GI motility refers to the progression of food, fluids and waste through the digestive tract. Motility problems include:
Cedars-Sinai's GI Motility Program is unique among motility centers because it treats almost all GI motility problems. Another unique aspect of our program is that while other programs have support staff conduct diagnostic tests, most of these procedures are performed at Cedars-Sinai by a motility specialist with a nurse assistant.
We focus on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of these digestive tract problems. Our program offers the most advanced diagnosis and treatment methods and is recognized throughout the world for our latest research discoveries, which are already being used to help patients.
Although we do have consultative services, much of what we do is focused on motility tests as ordered by your referring physician. You can be scheduled for a motility test in about two to five days, depending on the test. The program has on average a 48-hour turnaround time for breath tests, and for any other motility test, the turnaround time is usually less than five working days. Once a test is completed, turnaround times for receiving reports average less than 24 hours. Our program is also well known for its user-friendly reporting system. All tests are interpreted by one of our motility experts. The test is then turned into an easy-to-read report, making decisions easier for referring physicians.
