Gregory P. Fontana, MD

Vice Chairman, Surgery for Pediatric Surgical Services

Gregory P. Fontana, MD is Vice Chairman of Surgery for Pediatric Surgical Services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He is also Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Dr. Fontana's clinical and research expertise is in surgery for congenital heart disease and in minimally invasive surgery.

Board certified in thoracic surgery, Dr. Fontana has written numerous articles for peer-reviewed journals, including Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Pediatrics, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Journal and Echocardiography. In addition, Dr. Fontana serves on the editorial board of Heart Surgery Forum.

Dr. Fontana is a member of several professional organizations, including the David C. Sabiston, Jr. Surgical Society, Society of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery, American Heart Association, California Society of Pediatric Cardiology, 21st Century Cardiac Surgical Society, International Academy of Cardiology, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Western Thoracic Surgical Association and International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Fontana received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Riverside and his medical degree from UCLA. He completed an internship and a residency at Duke University Medical Center and fellowships in pediatric cardiac surgery at UCLA and Children's Hospital in Boston.
