GenRISKŪ Adult Genetics Program

In many cases, heart disease occurs in patients whose parents or close relatives have also experienced cardiovascular conditions. Evidence exists for a number of heart disorders that suggests patients' genes increase the risk of heart problems.

The GenRISKŪ Adult Genetics Program at Cedars-Sinai uses sophisticated methods to define and assess the genetic risk that a person may have of getting heart disease.

Results of a genetic evaluation at the GenRISK Adult Genetics Program can be used to personalize prevention efforts. Patients may learn of specific lifestyle changes they can make that might reduce the chances of heart disease and therapies targeted to specific genetic risk factors may be recommended.
