The Pancreatic Diseases Program at Cedars-Sinai occasionally schedules lectures for persons who have pancreatitis through a program called ESCAPE (Education and Supportive Care for Pancreatitis).
Pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas affecting 80,000 Americans each year, may strike once, repeatedly or chronically. Symptoms include abdominal pain, intolerance to food and nausea.
ESCAPE participants learn more about pancreatitis and the significance of receiving such a diagnosis. In addition, they become part of a supportive network of other pancreatitis patients. Family members receive assistance coping with the stress associated with the illness.
ESCAPE lectures are held in the Cafeteria Conference Room A, located on the street level of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's South Tower.
