Drug Use Policy Services

The Drug Use Policy Center serves as a resource for information about drugs and drug therapy to healthcare professionals. This service is responsible for:

  • Providing clinicians information about drug pharmacology, dosing, adverse reactions, availability, compatibility and stability
  • Researching drug topics using Medline, Micromedex, FDA-online and many other electronic information resources
  • Preparing and circulating the periodicals, "Drug Bulletin" and "Prescription"
  • Evaluating new drugs for possible addition to the Cedars-Sinai formulary and presenting these evaluations to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
  • Working with the medical staff to develop evidence-based usage guidelines
  • Maintaining the electronic drug formulary
  • Staff development
  • Precepting pharmacy students and residents
  • Forecasting the cost of pharmaceuticals used by the Medical Center each year
