Psychiatry Research in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center investigates the genetic, biochemical and environmental causes of, and behavioral and pharmacologic treatments for a variety of mental disorders. These studies are conducted by a veteran research team utilizing the Cedars-Sinai world-class facilities. This work involves the development of new treatments and augmenting already-existing treatment strategies, such as drug trials, gene therapy, complementary and alternative medicine and brain imaging. Psychiatry Research is looking to recruit individuals who wish to participate in research studies.
Research participants receive medical and psychiatric evaluations from staff physicians, as well as relevant information, support and treatment for psychiatric illnesses. Participation is always voluntary and completely confidential. Participation is based on a thorough consent process, which ensures that subjects understand the purpose of a study, the procedures involved, and the possible risks and benefits of participation. Those who qualify are carefully monitored over the course of participation to ensure their safety and well-being and the effectiveness of their treatment.
