
Kurlen S. Payton, MD is a neonatologist in Pediatric Services at Cedars-Sinai. Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, Dr. Payton was a hospitalist in the neonatal intensive care unit of The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Payton has published articles for peer reviewed publications including Developmental Neuroscience, the Transworld Research Network, Pediatric Annals and The Harriet Lane Handbook. He has presented at conferences in the United States and France.
Dr. Payton earned a bachelor's of science in nursing (cum laude) from Clemson University in South Carolina. He then went on to earn his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Payton completed both his pediatric residency, where he served as chief resident, and a neonatology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
