Life
- What kind of housing is available?
There is a variety of housing within close proximity to the hospital including apartments, condominiums, and homes for sale or rent. Most housestaff members find rental housing using free and fee-based internet listings. Please see the Pathology General Information web site for more information. Access to the UCLA housing listings can be accessed for a fee. - Do people commute to work?
Given the large number of vehicles in Los Angeles and the congestion that is commonplace, commuting is an important consideration when choosing a place to live. Many housestaff members drive to work and live within a few miles of the hospital; some live within walking or biking distance of the hospital. The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Ride Share program offers incentives for those who walk, bike, take public transportation, or carpool to work. - What is the campus neighborhood like?
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is in the city of Los Angeles situated on the borders of West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and the Fairfax district of Los Angeles. The surrounding neighborhood is home to many businesses, restaurants, retail centers as well as homes and small to medium sized apartment buildings. Adjacent to the hospital is the Beverly Center shopping mall and Robertson Boulevard, home to world class restaurants and designer boutiques. Nearby West Hollywood boasts an urban village of coffee shops, restaurants and trendy nightclubs. The Grove shopping center is just over a mile from the hospital campus. Santa Monica Beach is approximately 10 miles from campus. See link to Life in West L.A. - Is parking provided? Is there a food allowance?
