
Arie L. Alkalay, MD is Director of the Well Baby Nursery in the Department of Pediatrics' Division of Neonatology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Alkalay is also a Professor of Pediatrics in David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Alkalay's main clinical and research interests are neonatal hypoglycemia, neonatal jaundice, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and neonatal outcome. He has written numerous articles on these and other subjects for all of the major peer-reviewed pediatric journals, and is the author of the book Well Baby Nursery Syllabus and Guidelines.
Dr. Alkalay earned his bachelor's degree from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel and his medical degree from The Hadassah School of Medicine in Jerusalem, Israel. He completed his pediatrics residency at Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot, Israel and his fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot, Israel and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is a recipient of the "Morris Press Humanism Award" in the category of attending full-time staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He is board certified by both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Israeli Scientific Counsel in Pediatrics and in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Dr. Alkalay is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, California Perinatal Association and Western Society of Pediatric Research.
