
Elizabeth Spiteri, PhD is the Scientific Director of the Molecular Pathology Latoratory and Associate Scientific Director of the Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Cedars-Sinai and is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center.
Dr. Spiteri has authored several peer-reviewed scientific papers and presented abstracts at many scientific meetings. Her research includes investigating genetic components of neurologic disorders. In addition, she actively participates in teaching, instructing residents and fellows, as well as organizing continuing education seminars for cytogenetic and molecular laboratory scientists.
Dr. Spiteri received her bachelor's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the State University of New York at Albany and her doctorate in Cell Biology and Genetics from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She completed cytogenetics and molecular genetics fellowships in the Intercampus Medical Genetics Training Program at the University of California, Los Angeles, and she holds board certification in both Cytogenetics as well as Molecular genetics.
