

As Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Randy Sherman will work with both faculty and private attending physicians to develop educational, clinical and research programs in reconstructive surgery that meet their needs in order to serve patients throughout the community and beyond.
Dr. Sherman is currently the Audrey Skirball Kenis Professor and Chair of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC). He holds secondary appointments in the Departments of Orthopaedic and Neurologic Surgery. He also serves as the program director for the plastic surgical residency and the microvascular/hand fellowship at USC.
Having earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1977 and completed his general surgical training at the University of California at San Francisco and the State University of New York at Syracuse, Dr. Sherman's plastic surgery training was completed at USC in 1985. He then joined the faculty at USC, rising to the positions of Division Chief of Plastic Surgery, Vice-Chair of the Department of Surgery, and Associate Medical Director for Surgical Services at the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.
Dr. Sherman is an active member of 14 national specialty societies, including the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Surgical Association. He has authored numerous articles, chapters and books in his specialty, and has lectured nationally and abroad.
He is also the recent past-president of the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, and the Chief Medical Officer of Operation Smile, a charitable organization which sends plastic surgeons, as well as their healthcare professionals, across the world to perform reconstructive surgery on children with congenital and acquired deformities.
