More than 200 attending physicians and residents from several area medical centers gathered at Cedars-Sinai on Valentine's Day for a Los Angeles Citywide Emergency Medicine Residency Conference in Harvey Morse Auditorium. The conference is geared primarily towards residents, who came to the morning program to hear emergency medicine experts discuss topics that included a keynote speech on MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococus aureus ). In addition to Cedars-Sinai, participants included L.A. County/USC, UCLA Medical Center, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Olive View-UCLA. Among the speakers were Paul A. Silka, M.D., and Sam Torbati, M.D., from Cedars-Sinai's Emergency Department, who both participated as panelists. The next citywide EM residency conference will be held in May.
