What is the Difference Between the Personal Patient Lists & Inpatient Roster?

The Inpatient Roster displays a list that is the union of:

  • All patients on the user's personal patient list who are currently assigned to an inpatient bed.
  • All inpatients that have the current user as admitting or attending physician.
  • All inpatients that were admitted by or attended by any physician that has assigned their PPL to this user.

If a patient is both on a PPL and also admitted or attended by the user or another MD that has assigned their PPL to the user, the admitting/attending status will be displayed in the Role column in preference to the PPL status.

Personal Patient Lists (PPL) are controlled by the user and provides a way to "bookmark" patients for quick access. For users with the MD role, it also lists patients for whom the current user is the attending or admitting physician of record.

To add a patient to your PPL:

  1. Log into Web/VS
  2. Use the Easy or Advanced Search to bring up a patient display list
  3. Click to add a check mark in the empty box to the left of the patient's name.
  4. At the bottom where it says "Add Marked Patients To," choose PPL from the drop-down list
  5. Click the GO button
To remove a patient from your PPL:

A button to delete (or add) the current patient from the Personal Patient List is available after a patient has been selected. The initial state of the button depends on whether the patient is already on the logged-in user's PPL. When the button is clicked, a confirmatory message will be displayed in a popup window and the legend on the button will change as appropriate.

  1. Log into Web/VS
  2. Use the Easy or Advanced Search to bring up a patient display list
  3. Click to add a check mark in the empty box to the left of the patient's name.
  4. At the bottom, click the "Delete Marked Patients from PPL" button

Note: The user cannot delete a patient from a PPL that has been assigned by another user.
