New Warning Labels for the Use of PDE-5 Inhibitors

The FDA has received reports of sudden decreases or loss of hearing following the use of PDE-5 inhibitors Viagra, Levitra and Cialis for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and Revatio for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension. In some cases, the sudden hearing loss was accompanied by tinnitus and dizziness.

Most physicians do not welcome critical test result calls at all hours. So, working with the Clinical Improvement Committee, the laboratory revised some of the parameters to continue to meet community standards but decrease the disruptive calls. Our new test limits are within the ranges of what other laboratories consider critical.
