Committed to Supporting and Educating Physicians Involved in the Care of Patients with Lung Disease

The Lung Transplant Program at the Women's Guild Lung Institute is committed to furthering the knowledge of physicians involved in the care of patients with lung disease.

When to Refer Patients for Lung or Heart and Lung Transplantation

To aid physicians in knowing when a patient with lung disease should be referred for evaluation as a lung (or heart and lung) transplant candidate, the Lung Transplant Program has prepared the following guidelines:

  • Inclusion and exclusion criteria
  • Single lung transplant referral guide
  • Double lung transplant referral criteria
  • Heart and lung transplant referral criteria
  • Retransplant indications
  • Contraindications for lung transplantation

Fellowships in Transplantation and Cardiothoracic Surgery

As a world renowned institution for medical education, the Women's Guild Lung Institute is committed to excellence in the training of the next generation of surgeons.

Surgeons in the Lung Transplant Program are actively involved in
surgical fellowships to provide advanced training to surgeons specializing in transplant and cardiothoracic surgery.

Grand Rounds

Throughout the year, the Lung Transplant Program offers and participates in Grand Rounds to provide continuing education in the fields of lung and heart disease and lung, heart and heart and lung transplantation.

Morbidity and Mortality Reviews

The Cedars-Sinai Lung Transplant Program holds regular reviews of adverse outcomes. This process allows the healthcare team to continuously improve on the care provided to patients who come to the program for lung transplants.
