Women with cancer of the cervix, vagina or uterus may be candidates for High Dose-Rate (HDR) Radiation Implant/Brachytherapy for Women's Cancers (Tandem and Ring).
HDR treatment puts a high amount of radiation directly into or close to the tumor for a short period of time, sparing surrounding healthy tissue.
HDR is an outpatient procedure whereas Low Dose-Rate (LDR) therapy requires a three to four day inpatient stay for each treatment.
