Web/VS supports an Advanced Search capability that allows you to search for a patient by medical record number, billing account number, social security number, first name, last name, middle name, room, unit, hospital service, patient care team, age, birthdate, or attending/admitting physician. You can use combinations of these values to narrow down a search when you don't know the patient's exact name. It also gives you much more control over the use of "wildcard" characters in any part of a patient name.
To get to the Advanced Search screen, click the PC icon or the "Advanced Search" hotlink on the Easy Search screen. To search for a patient, fill in one or more search criteria at the left, then click the Go button. For example, to search for all patients with the last name "JONES" who are about 40 years old, you would first switch to the easy search screen, fill in the last name field with "JONES," fill in the age field with "40," pick "Years" for the age units, and click the "Go" button. Patients with last name of JONES and ages 39-41 will be displayed (the age search is "fuzzy"). The option to view the Advanced Search screen as your default Patient Search is available in the "User Profile" under "Change Default Patient Search." First click on the drop down menu and select "Advanced Patient Search," then scroll to the bottom of the profile form and click the "Update My Profile" button. For questions, comments or suggestions, please contact the Web/VS Support Team at (310) 423-2828 or via e-mail at groupcdrsupport@cshs.org. You can also click on the "Contact Us" button in Web/VS (located in the blue shaded area on the bottom left side of the screen).
