"The Matrix Conference - the Department of Surgery Patient Safety Curriculum" will begin its seventh year on Thursday, July 5, at 8 a.m. The initial Matrix Conference of the 2007 - 2008 academic year will be held in the Board Room on the Plaza level. Cedars-Sinai is offering two practical sessions (morning and afternoon) on ultrasound assisted vascular access on Friday, July 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Harvey Morse Auditorium. Each session will consist of hands-on sessions with ultrasound scanning of real patient-models. The course is free of charge for Cedars-Sinai attending medical staff and is intended for intensivists, hospitalists and specialists. Back by popular demand, Cedars-Sinai will host its annual sleepover for the medical staff and their family members at the Jonathan Beach Club in Santa Monica. You bring the equipment (tent, sleeping bags, overnight gear) and the medical center provides the food and entertainment. Restrooms and hot showers are available nearby. The cost, which includes a barbecue dinner and breakfast, is $45 per adult and $35 per child under 12 years of age. Limit one tent per physician. If you are unable to spend the night, come for dinner and an evening on the beach for $30 per adult and $20 per child under 12 years of age. The 3rd Annual Run for Her, which benefits ovarian cancer research at Cedars-Sinai, will be held on Sunday, November 11 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the medical center. Proceeds benefit the Cedars-Sinai Women's Cancer Research Institute, part of the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.
