Cedars-Sinai has received a $35 million gift for prostate cancer research from the Sumner M. Redstone Charitable Foundation. The gift will support research initiatives at the Louis Warschaw Prostate Cancer Center in the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute focused on understanding the biology of prostate cancer and developing new treatments. These research initiatives will be based in the Sumner Redstone Prostate Cancer Research Program, which will be part of the Warschaw Prostate Cancer Center in the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. The Redstone program will expand upon the current lab research and clinical trials being done at the center, under the leadership of Medical Director Stuart Holden, M.D. and Research Director David Agus, M.D. Its goal is to bring new treatments from the laboratory to patients as quickly and safely as possible. Cedars-Sinai is one of three major research institutions that each received a $35 million gift from Redstone. The others are Massachusetts General Hospital and Faster Cures, a non-profit group affiliated with the Milken Institute that is focused on accelerating research collaborations to develop new medical solutions to disease.
