Donald C. Dafoe, MD is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in surgery and surgical critical care. His primary clinical and research interests are pancreas and kidney transplantation. Dr. Dafoe holds the Eris M. Field Endowed Chair in Diabetes Research.

A former medical director for the California Transplant Donor Network, Dr. Dafoe has also served on the Board of the United Network for Organ Sharing and the Council of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. He is a member of the American Surgical Association, Halsted Society, Surgical Biology Club II, American Society of Transplant Surgeons and American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Dafoe has written more than 160 articles for peer-reviewed publications, and he has held editorial positions with the Journal of Surgical Research, The Chimera and Transplantation Science. He is an ad hoc reviewer for several scientific journals, including Surgery, Transplantation and Annals of Surgery.

Dr. Dafoe received his bachelor's degree and medical degree from the University of Wisconsin, where he was elected to the honorary medical society Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his surgical residency and transplantation fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
