Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women in the United States. More than 180,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. More than 43,000 women may die from the disease. In the United States, one out of nine women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime.
Cedars-Sinai's Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center, A Project of Women's Guild, is dedicated to breast health. Under the direction of Edward H. Phillips, MD, FACS, and Jerrold H. Steiner, MD, FACS, the center offers an expert team that includes oncologists, pathologists, surgeons, plastic surgeons, radiologists, hematologists, psychologists, physical therapists and nutritionists to provide customized treatment to meet each patient's individual needs. When required, the experts at the Outpatient Cancer Center provide radiation and chemotherapy in a specially-designed healing environment.
The Saul and Joyce Brandman Center, a Project of Women's Guild, provides innovative diagnostic expertise that can lead to early detection and accurate staging of breast cancer. Genetic testing is available at Cedars-Sinai to determine if a woman has inherited mutations that can lead to a greater risk of developing breast cancer.
Patient education, cancer screening, identifying risk factors and genetic risk assessment are key components of our program. Comprehensive and innovative treatment approaches ranging from nonsurgical to surgical treatments are offered at the Brandman Breast Center. These services are available in one easy location.
Breast cancer survivors helped design the Brandman Breast Center to assure the highest level of care and sensitivity to patients' needs. Each patient has a personal care coordinator. This person works closely with the patient to make sure she understands her test results, her treatment plan and her treatment alternatives. This extra help is an important part of the emotional support the Breast Center offers its patients.
The Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center understands that patients face many challenges during their cancer treatment. We offer support for both psychological and emotional concerns, including services to help you feel a sense of balance.
