Androgen-related disorders are present in six to ten percent of women of reproductive age, affecting 3.7 to 4.9 million women in the U.S. and 89 to 119 million worldwide. Approximately 70 to 90 percent of androgen excess involves polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This conference will bring together clinicians and researchers who will present the latest and most relevant information on the diagnosis, treatment and care of women with androgen excess, diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance, hirsutism, infertility, oligomenorrhea, PCOS and other diseases related to androgen imbalances in women. The Center for Androgen-Related Disorders is the only center in Southern California dedicated exclusively to the research and treatment of patients with androgen deficiency and androgen excess, particularly PCOS. Clinicians and researchers will cover topics to assist you in the management of simple and complex issues facing today's PCOS patient.
A new feature of the 2007 conference is a choice of roundtable discussions from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Although no CME credit is provided, participants can informally meet with faculty during lunch to discuss one of six different topics including: Ovulation induction and PCOS, hirsutism and treatment options; PCOS and the menopausal woman; diagnosing and managing metabolic dysfunction in PCOS; and alternative and complementary therapies for treating PCOS.
